| Inspired by the beauty of nature, Frances considers herself a realistic painter, isolating and enlarging natural forms in her paintings. Transparent watercolor is her medium of choice, occasionally acrylic paint is used in combination with watercolor. Her works reflect her love of flowers, especially the roses and irises from her garden.
Frances has enjoyed watercolor painting since childhood although she did not pursue painting seriously until 1997 when she retired from her interior design business in Northern Virginia and moved to Williamsburg. Since then she has studies with Ann Murphy Armstrong and Barclay Sheaks, and she has attended workshops by Don Andrews, Janet Walsh, and Christopher Schink.
Frances' work can be seen at the Prince George Art and Frame gallery or by appointment in her studio in Williamsburg. |
| As a part-time resident of North Carolina's Outer Banks, Jane demonstrates her passion for beauty in nature in her original studies of coastal sunrises and habitats. Her paintings are characterized by an expressive use of color, usually with a cool dominance.
A former high school art teacher, Jane is finally enjoying the opportunity to be a full-time artist. Educated at the College of William & Mary, she has a B.A. in Fine Arts and an M.A. in Art Education. Jane is a member of the Barclay Art Group , which studies under artist Barclay Sheaks. She is also a member of This Century Gallery in Williamsburg, Virginia and the Dare County Arts Council in North Carolina. |
